Successful stories of people using EFT as a mechanism to overcome.
I worked on a gentlemen that was scheduled to have back surgery and 4 months of physical therapy to deal with major pain that caused him to limp while he walked. After listening to his story of when it started, i had him tap on the subconscious guilt he felt related to a group of men he might have hurt indirectly. After one session, he got up and walked perfectly fine and asked was this some kind of magic. After telling him what EFT was about, he cancelled his surgery and four months of physical therapy the next day and has been fine for the past four years.
I worked on a gentlemen named Liam in his 60’s who had excruciating pain for 10 to 12 years. He had a 9 mm herniated disk in his lower back. He said, “it only goes to 10.” He reported that he went to every known doctor he could spending thousands of dollars for several years and received little to no help. I found the emotional root to his physical pain in the guilt he felt around leaving his wife and five kids years ago. After only one session, he got up and the pain was completely gone. He has been pain free for 2 years!
A veteran of the Iraq war had been haunted for seven years creating post-traumatic stress everyday of his life. In Iraq, he witnessed some gruesome dead bodies of children on the ground that were baking in the sun. The children were his children’s age and every time he saw their faces in his mind, he’d think that was going to be his children. I had him tap on the specific details of the faces of the children. After several rounds of tapping, the faces disappeared and his anxiety ceased. His face went from horror to peace right before me. He said with glee, “it’s actually gone for the first time in seven years.”
Golf is a game I’ve played for 40 years. I believe it is the number one most difficult sport to master because the ball is still and the mind has time to “get in the way.” It’s important to tap before a round and during the round. This gentleman like most golfers had associations with the following that we tapped on: “Even though I sliced the ball on this hole last time, Even though I’m afraid to miss this birdie putt, Even though I’m afraid to hit it into the lake on the left, Even though I’ve never shot 73, I’m afraid I’m going to “blow it.” Though EFT didn’t work for every single tapping within the round, it did for about 80% of the time. It came down to the final hole that he had to par to beat his record. A six foot putt was sunk after tapping on the fear that we was going to miss the putt. He was ecstatic.
I worked with a woman who had the common life theme, “I’m not good enough.” It stemmed from a mother who constantly gave her that message growing up, and a husband who reaffirmed that in her. I talked with her about her positive qualities as well as how negative people don’t like to see others around them succeed because it reminds them of their own failures. So I focused the tapping on her achievements and self-concept as well as some childhood events for six sessions. She reported after each session that it seemed like the depression was lifting. After six sessions, she said she felt she finally felt normal again and felt happy for no reason which was new to her. She was able to use EFT whenever she was triggered from then. I saw her 4 months later and she was still feeling good.
A woman I worked on reported that she has never swam in a pool or anywhere. She had a strong phobia because a friend pushed her in to a pool when she was six and couldn’t swim. After we tapped on the fear of drowning, her fear when from a ten to a two. I talked to her a month later and she said she has gone swimming twice and was able to manage her fear at the two level.
A woman I worked on hurt her hand nine years before from a soccer game collision. I also connected the pain to the symbolic language of “not being to handle things in her life and that a certain family member was a “handful,” in a negative way. After 15 minutes of tapping on these specific issues, the pain went away. She reported a month later that she was still pain-free.
As a counselor at Palomar college, I was called up to help a young man who had a bad car accident the day before. The nurses and doctor tried to calm him for an hour but his shortness of breath, and hyper vigilance continued. When I arrived, I asked him to tell me the pictures or sounds he keeps repeating in his head. We started tapping on the glass that shattered as it hit his face and that went a way in two minutes. Then we tapped on the woman face in the other car that hit him. After two minutes, he said, “her face is disappearing.” After four minutes, he said, the pain anxiety went from a six out of ten to a negative three. He said, “I can actually make my class that starts right now” and he left happy.
A man who had pain in his throat and lungs every time he breathed in was seen by a ear, nose, and throat doctor who told him he was well and fine. The tapping on the pain only went down a few suds level points. I connected the throat chakra issue to the fear he had around an upcoming department meeting he was going to have at his work exposing people who had broke some rules of ethics. He thought that they would turn it around on him. Knowing that the old brain or subconscious brain often tries to protect the self, we tapped on the statement, “Even though I have this throat and lung pain that reminds me of my mind trying to close my throat down so I won’t have to speak at the department meeting, I choose to release any fear around my speaking, because I can protect myself with the support of another work member and it is thus, safe to let go of this throat pain forever.” It didn’t clear that day, but it did for good, the following day.
A woman who had never spoken to more than a few people at a time was feeling a lot of anxiety over speaking to about 100 people on her 70th birthday party. She said several times that she was either not going to say much or just not speak at all during our session. We tapped on her fears around the judgment of the people, the fear of the mind going blank, and so forth. The result: She gave a flawless 10 minute speech and shortly after the start, stopped using her notes. The rest of the family couldn’t believe how she delivered such a heart-felt, and historical speech and didn’t appear anxious at all.
I had a stunning experience with a woman who grew up with a schizophrenic mother who tried to kill her several times. She was abused and molested throughout her childhood and teens and she remembered very little about her past. After I identified the key life issues to tap on, I initiated the tapping with little to no progress. I knew she was blocked because she couldn’t connect with the little girl inside her that had to repress these memories in order to stay sane. I usually use a stuffed animal, but instead, I gave her a picture with my three daughters hugging each other; their ages were five, nine, and thirteen. I asked her to pick one of my daughters and imagine it was her at this young innocent age. Then I asked her to tap on the EFT points on my daughters face saying the statements I expressed. It went something like, “Even though all these scary things are happening to you, the adult me(name) is protecting you now; this is not your fault, you have crazy people around and I love you so much; we’re going to get through this together.” The tears finally started to flow and we tapped for the next 15 minutes. When she was calm, she started remembering the house she grew up in, the smells of the house came back to her, the hobbies she was involved in were recalled along with many other experiences she had. The said she hadn’t thought of them since they had happened over 40 years ago. On the next meeting a few weeks later, she reported she was feeling lighter, with more energy, more happiness, and less pain in her body.
A 52 year old male acupuncturist I worked on was horribly molested between the ages of three and eight. He had a vague memory of it but that was it. He had been a chronic smoker and cocaine user most of his life and ½ way through the first session, I could get him to access the memory and move through it. It was then I brought out a small stuffed animal bear and told him to think of the bear as him as a child. I told him to tap on the accupoints on the bear while repeating the words I whispered to him. Statements like, “Even though this is happening to you, it’s not your fault, you’re an innocent child, and the adult you is now going to protect the little you starting now.” After a few minutes, the tears started flowing while he kept on tapping and listening to my statements. After the session, he said his body felt lighter and he felt happier. When I met with him again the following week, he said. “I haven’t felt this good in 50 years.”
I’ll never forget being asked to go to Health Services to help with a student who was on LSD. He was talking gibberish to the nurses and they couldn’t communicate with him. After taking a few minutes to try and develop rapport with him, I got him to tap on all the acupoints saying, “Even though I can’t communicate because I’m on LSD, I allow the trip to die out and sober myself up so I can have a clear head and make sense to those around me.” After 10 minutes, he came out of it and said, “I feel a lot better and I forgot I need to call my mom in a few minutes, I need to go.” I spoke to him for another 10 minutes to ensure he was okay and it was amazing to me because I didn’t expect EFT to “pull this one off.” The nurses were stunned.
